New Clients

A thoughtful approach starts with understanding the story.

Before we decide what to test, treat, change, or leave alone, we want to understand your companion.

Getting Started

You do not need a referral to become a Rooted patient.

Rooted’s new-client process gives us time to review the history, understand your concerns and goals, and identify what deserves attention first.

Ways To Begin

Getting started at Rooted

Dog

Whole-Patient CareComprehensive Integrative Evaluation

$625 For animals with existing health concerns, chronic or recurrent symptoms, complex disease, or families seeking a comprehensive functional and integrative perspective. This visit is designed to understand the larger clinical picture, including medical history, previous diagnostics and treatments, nutrition, medications and supplements, lifestyle, current concerns, and your goals.

Starting WellPuppy & Kitten Rooted Start

$475 For families who want to establish an individualized, proactive foundation from the beginning. The Rooted Start considers nutrition, preventive care, vaccination strategy, lifestyle, development, environmental factors, and long-term health, with recommendations tailored to your puppy or kitten rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Targeted CareFocused Acupuncture, Rehabilitation & Mobility Care

$425 For patients coming to Rooted directly or through a veterinary referral for focused care, while maintaining their primary veterinary relationship elsewhere. This visit centers on comfort, movement, and function, considering your companion's history, current concerns, and goals to build a targeted plan.

Additional diagnostics, vaccinations, treatments, therapies, medications, supplements, and follow-up care are not included in the consultation fee and are discussed based on your companion’s individual needs.

Reserving Your Initial Appointment

A deposit is required to reserve your initial appointment. Because comprehensive cases involve review of submitted medical records and history in preparation for your visit, this work may begin before you arrive at the clinic. Details regarding the deposit, rescheduling, and cancellation policy will be provided when your appointment is scheduled.

The Rooted Care Journey

What to expect, step by step.

1

Request an Appointment

Rather than automatic online booking, new clients begin by submitting an appointment request. This allows our team to understand what you're looking for, determine the most appropriate appointment type, and reserve the right amount of time for your companion's needs. Rooted also welcomes referrals from primary veterinarians and specialists.

2

Complete Your Intake

Once your appointment is scheduled, you'll receive new-client intake information through the Rooted client system. We ask about medical history, current concerns, nutrition, medications, supplements, previous therapies, lifestyle/environment, quality of life, and your priorities and goals.

Share Medical Records

Previous medical records, laboratory results, imaging, specialist reports, pathology, and treatment history can provide valuable information. Whenever possible, Rooted reviews existing information rather than automatically repeating diagnostics that have already been performed.

Before the Appointment

Please arrange for all available veterinary records, recent diagnostics, imaging reports, and relevant specialist records to be transferred to Rooted as soon as possible after scheduling. Your companion’s records are reviewed before the initial appointment so the doctor can become familiar with their history, identify relevant patterns and prior findings, and make the most of your time together. Records can be sent to care@rooted-vet.com.

5

Your Initial Visit

We'll discuss your companion's history, current concerns, previous care, nutrition, medications and supplements, lifestyle, and your goals. Your companion will receive a physical examination, and we'll begin bringing the pieces together. Not everything needs to happen on day one.

6

Your Rooted Plan

Recommendations are organized around what matters most for your companion. A plan may include conventional medical care, nutrition, medications, targeted supplementation, functional diagnostics, acupuncture or mobility care, restorative therapies, monitoring, or collaboration with other veterinary professionals. The goal is to understand what we're doing, why we're doing it, and what we're looking for in response.

7

Follow the Response

As your companion responds, recommendations may change. Some things continue; some are adjusted; some may be tapered or discontinued when appropriate. Everything in the plan should have a purpose, and that purpose should be reassessed as the patient changes.

One Practice, Different Roles

Rooted can be your veterinary home, or part of a larger team.

Some Rooted patients receive their ongoing primary veterinary care through the practice. Others maintain an established primary veterinarian and come to Rooted for integrative or functional support. Complex patients may also be working with oncologists, internists, neurologists, surgeons, or other specialists.

There is no expectation that families choose one approach or one veterinary team over another. When collaboration benefits the patient, we welcome it.

Good Care Is A Partnership

The best plan isn't the most elaborate one. It's the one we can thoughtfully carry forward together.

You don’t need to do everything perfectly. We ask for open communication about what is working, what isn’t, what is realistic for your family, and meaningful changes in medications, supplements, symptoms, or care received elsewhere.
